The League has been informed today that the Pilot scheme regarding substitutions has been incorrectly interpreted.
THEREFORE AN EMERGENCY GENERAL MEETING HAS BEEN CALLED THIS WEEK - IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT EVERY CLUB SECRETARY AND REFEREE TELEPHONES THE LEAGUE SECRETARY FOR DETAILS.
The initiative was introduced by the F.A. to monitor uptake and retention levels among players.
However, whilst the League fully supports any action taken to keep and recruit new Clubs and players, it would appear that this scheme is somewhat half-baked. The League received zero documentation regarding this pilot and it transpires that the F.A. intended the new Rule to allow 'willy-nilly' rolling subs (in accordance with Law 3 of course).
Since this suggestion was laughed out of the last Secretaries Meeting, the League propose that in order to comply with the Laws Of The Game, that we revert to the standard three from five substitutions Rule as used in previous seasons.
This change will be implemented IMMEDIATELY with all fixtures on Sunday 30th September (and thereafter) being affected.
YOU MUST PHONE THE LEAGUE SECRETARY IMMEDIATELY FOR DETAILS.
