Another morning of heavy rain - another abandonment.
The Landlords Final at Ossett Albion got underway after a lot of hard work was done on the pitch during the week.
With rain predicted for the afternoon, it looked as though we were going to get the game played. Unfortunately, the heavens opened (again!) and Referee of the Year Mick Leadbeater was forced to abandon the match in the 51st minute due to standing water in some areas.
The Sheps lads must have thought it was Groundhog Day after the same thing happened to them in the Premier Division Cup Final the previous week. This time though, Stanley were 1-0 up so it was their turn to feel cheated by the weather.
The match has been rearranged for Sunday 20th May at Ossett Albion with an 11:00am Kick-off.
In order to ensure that the pitch is playable for Thursday night's Premier Division Cup Final, the Supplementary Cup Final has been put back to Sunday 6th May with a 3pm kick-off.
Premier Division Cup
On Thursday night (3rd May) Shepherds Arms will be hoping to be 3-1 on 70 minutes, as they were against Kinsley at the time of the abandonment.
Again, the League are optimistic that this match will be played in its entirety but further updates will be posted here after Tuesday's match on the same pitch.
Should the worst come to the worst and either or both of the above games are blighted by bad weather again, the League has made plans for that eventuality.
As Nostell are having their pitch reseeded next week, that venue is out of the equation. Therefore, Ossett Town have stepped in to host these games should the pitch be unplayable.
Both matches will be played exactly a week later if they are not on this week.
If the Supplementary Cup is postponed or abandoned it will be played:
Tuesday 10th May @ Ossett Town - K.O. 19:30
If the Premier Division Cup fails to be concluded it will be played;
Thursday 12th May @ Ossett Town - K.O. 19:30
