Super Sunday

Cup Finals

It hardly feels as if we have started the season with all the rotten weather and already we are preparing for our first Cup Finals!

Next Sunday (17th March) sees a bumper feast of football in the League's first double-header Final of the season.

Thornes Reserves cemented their place in the Division 4 Final with a gripping 4-3 victory over resilient Sandal Galaxy.
Whilst Gardeners Arms experience shone through in a fine 3-0 victory over up-and-coming Crofton Colts Reserves.

Mick Leadbeater will take charge of what promises to be a thrilling final at Nostell MW, kicking off at 11am.

That should leave just enough time for a pie and a pint before referee Trevor Chalkley summons the Division 3 Finalists for their 2.30pm start.

Table topping Peacock saw off Championship rivals Outwood WMC in the first semi-final with a solid 4-2 win. Their opponent on Sunday will be either Grey Horse or FC Waterloo who are contesting their semi-final as I write this.

I don't think that whoever progresses to the Final would mind being called the 'underdog' too much, as they face a tough run-in to ensure third Division football next term.

That said, the magic of the Cup is still alive in Wakefield and anyone can go on to lift the coveted trophy on the day.

Good luck to all the finalists and we will look forward to our own 'Super Sunday' of entertaining action this weekend.

The League is still asking for volunteers to help make sure the Finals run smoothly. If there are any ball-boys or ball-girls who would like to get in and watch the game for free, please message us on facebook or email: (Or you can just turn up on the day)
